What the Experts Say About Massage Therapy

“I have found massage therapy to be invaluable in the care of my patients."

  • Kathryn Dietzway – Psychotherapist and business owner
Because massage therapy has been linked to the activation of the bodies’ nervous system relaxation response, I’ve found it to be an extremely helpful addition to my personal, holistic mind/body self-care plan. I look at massage therapy as my time to unplug from technology and the stressors of the day-time to truly just relax, let go and be still.
  • Chiropractor
“I have found massage therapy to be invaluable in the care of my patients.
Nerves innervate muscles. Muscles move bones.
If I adjust my patient’s spine, but then don’t pay attention to the muscular component, then I’ve seen that a spasmed muscle can pull a vertebrae right out of its alignment.
I am clear that patients hold their chiropractic adjustments longer and better if their spasmed muscles are soothed and relaxed.
Massage therapy makes my job easier. There are different types of massage and specializations with each massage therapist. I have professionally worked with LMT Amber Renee for several years.
I give my highest recommendation for her work, and I recommend you schedule an appointment with her for a massage.
If you have any further questions about her, or massage therapy in general, I would be glad to speak with you personally, and share with you many more of my reasons why. ”
  • Travis Houser PT, DPT - On The Move Physical Therapy and Wellness

Massage Therapy can play such an important role in so many aspects of Wellness.  As a Physical Therapist, there are some Massage techniques that I include in my treatment sessions, but a Massage Therapist is trained in depth in all of those techniques plus many more.

Massage Therapy can be very important in the healing process as well as the arena of prevention.  I often say that the best way to treat back pain is to never get it to begin with.  Tom Brady, the seemingly ageless wonder, discusses in his book the importance of keeping tissues "pliable".  Massage Therapy plays a huge part in doing just that to prevent you from injury.

As far as the healing process goes, there are very many things that are required for your body to heal correctly.  Massage Therapy can help to decrease muscular tension and I find it works very well in conjunction with corrective exercises that may be prescribed to you by your Physical Therapist.
